A KASHMIRI SHAWL OUTER BORDER WITH BOTEH (PAISLEY LEAVES) Kashmir, Northern India, late 19th century Of rectangular shape, twill tapestry-woven in coloured wools, decorated with a repeating frieze of elegant, drop-shaped boteh leaves in-filled with floral triumphs, interspersed amidst floral meanders with rosette stems and vine trellis in polychromes, all set against a bright red ground, with only part of the selvedges still intact, 42cm x 155.5cm.
