FOUR INDIAN STEEL FLINT STRIKERS WITH ELEPHANTS AN EYE FOR DETAIL: PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE ESTATE IN NORTHERN LONDON Mughal Northern India, late 18th - 19th century Each cast in the typical upward-turned shape, comprising an openwork specimen with three roundels in-filled with stylised flowers on the base and an elephant on the handle's terminal, 11cm x 6.5cm; a near pair with a chased-in-relief base featuring vegetal and floral motifs, sinuous stylised makara handles, terminating with elephants, the largest 11cm x 5.5cm; and another similar, the base decorated with a row of three peacocks, the handle incised with details of a bird's head, and terminating in an elephant with an upward-curled trunk, 11.5cm x 6cm.
