AN INDIAN OPENWORK STEEL KATAR DAGGER HILT AN EYE FOR DETAIL: PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE ESTATE IN NORTHERN LONDON India, 18th - early 19th century The bladeless hilt of typical shape, featuring tapering rectangular sidebars terminating in the form of cusped arches, their centres with overlapping bands of pierced lattice work and their ends chased with stylised lotus flower blossoms, with a bulbous double grip in the middle chased with flowers, and a pointy forte with a bulbous base and a cusped floral tip, 23.5cm long.
