MONUMENTS OF INDIA: TWO BLACK-AND-WHITE PHOTOGRAPHS OF MUGHAL PAVILIONS AN EYE FOR DETAIL: PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE ESTATE IN NORTHERN LONDON Samuel Bourne (British Photographer, 1834 – 1912), Northern India, ca. 1860s Comprising two albumen silver prints showcasing different Indian architectural landmarks, the photograph by Bourne shot in portrait vertical format and capturing the side of a Mughal-style pavilion overlooking a lake or body of water, with lattice work jali screen in the foreground and elaborate hardstone pietradura floral decorative friezes throughout the upper section of the colonnade and capitals, signed and numbered 'Bourne 1223' on the lower left corner, mounted and framed, 61cm x 51cm including the frame; and another print in landscape horizontal format, unsigned and unmarked, depicting the lavish interior of the Diwan-i-Khas, the Mughal private audience hall in the Agra Red Fort complex, mounted, glazed and framed, each 51cm x 61cm including the frame.
