AN INDIAN CAST BRONZE TEMPLE BRAZIER AN EYE FOR DETAIL: PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE ESTATE IN NORTHERN LONDON Possibly Karnataka or Tamil Nadu, Southern India, 18th century or later Of hexagonal shape, the cast and pierced body resting on six sloping bracket feet with stepped circular bases, the rim surmounted by six bulbous finials, to the sides four large hoops linked to heavy chains with curved handles, possibly to hang or transport the brazier during processions and rituals, the exterior of the body engraved with floral motifs, geometric fretwork bands, and stylised scrollwork, 15.5cm x 25.5cm excluding the chains.
