FOUR PAIRS OF STEEL AND BRASS SCISSORS AN EYE FOR DETAIL: PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE ESTATE IN NORTHERN LONDON Iran, 18th century, and India, 19th century and later Comprising a pair of Late Safavid calligrapher's steel scissors, of typical wedge-like shape, with a circular opening at the top and a U-shaped one just underneath, the sides chased with charming vegetal meanderings of interlocking split palmettes, 14.5cm long; a 20th-century Indian tailor's pair of steel scissors, with tapering and curved handles, 18cm long; and two pairs of South Indian brass umbilical cord clamp scissors, one clamp designed as a stylised dragon's head, the latter as a bird's head, the longest 13cm.
