AN ENGRAVED BRASS HAMSA DUCK FINIAL AN EYE FOR DETAIL: PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE ESTATE IN NORTHERN LONDON Possibly Deccan or Southern India, 18th century Cast in the shape of the beloved sacred Hamsa duck (also known as Hintha in Southeast Asia), resting on a flattened circular ring probably once part of a finial, with a large, drop-shaped, openwork tail featuring a stylised lotus flower in the centre, breathing out sacred fiery breath from its beak, with a sinuous, upward-turned crest, the body engraved with dots and lines forming the feathers and bodily features of the duck, 17cm high.
