AN INCISED OPENWORK BRASS LIDDED BOX AN EYE FOR DETAIL: PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE ESTATE IN NORTHERN LONDON Possibly Karnataka, South India, 19th century Cast in the heart-like shape of a Pipal leaf (ficus religiosa), the hinged lid and sides of the box incised and pierced with a dense floral grid, the edges decorated with stylised lotus petals and twisted-rope designs, the interior plain except for a peacock finial and a later-added, engraved, undeciphered Devanagari inscription on the inner lid, approx. 12.5cm x 20cm.
