Lance of the Yari type, Japan, 19th century (Edo period). Short blade with a three-sided cross-section, recessed ridge on the flat side. Wooden shaft with remnants of lacquer and mother-of-pearl mosaic. Plant fiber cords wrapped around the middle of the shaft. Iron shoe. L. 140 cm. Tatakinuri lacquer scabbard. Yari spear, triangular blade, iron end, wooden shaft with remains of lacquer and mother-of-pearl inlay work. Tatakinuri lacquer scabbard. Japan, Edo period.
