Artist information: German painter, draughtsman, commercial artist and illustrator (born 1860 in Magdeburg), studied 1898-1906 at the academy in Berlin, 1906-08 pupil of Albert Hertel, member of the Reichsverband Bildender Künstler Deutschlands and the Verein Berliner Künstler, active in Berlin, source: Thieme-Becker, and Dressler.

Ducks in a Lake (after Koester) on a lake near the shore, surrounded by reeds, a group of ducks, diving for food with their beaks in the water, an unknown monogrammist painted the original motif of the painter Alexander Koester, famous for his duck paintings, during the master's lifetime, which he succeeds well in the impressionistic play of light and the colouring, oil on canvas, lower right ligated monogrammed "C." or "L." and "AS", dated "[19].21", in a magnificent Art Nouveau frame, folded dimensions approx. 22.5 x 33.5 cm.
