France, Third Republic (1870-1940). Commemorative office blotter, the grip marked "POMMEAU DE L'EPEE DU MARECHAL FOCH". In walnut, the gilded brass grip imitates the pommel of Marshal FOCH's ceremonial sword, received from the city of Paris in 1919. It is decorated with the generals' helmets and set with a frieze representing the heroes of the Great War. 8.5 x 15 x 8 cm. (Age patina. Good condition). Note: On July 13, 1919, the eve of the victory parade, Marshal Foch received from the City of Paris, as a token of its gratitude, a gold and diamond sword of honor designed by the classical artist Henry NOCQ and the famous Parisian jeweler Henri VEVER. This sword is kept in the FOCH room at the Musée de l'Armée in Paris.
