France, Third Republic (1870-1940). Exceptional model 1878 Kropatschek system marine infantry rifle from the Manufacture de Mr de Werndel Steyr-Austria, dated 1879, complete with its Gras model 1874 marine bayonet to the same no. Cal. 11 mm. All parts with the same no. "A 6504". All metal parts with white polished finish. The breech housing is marked "MANUFACTURE DE Mr DE WERNDL Steyr - Austria Mle 1878 MARINE". The barrel is dated "Str 1879" and has numerous good inspection marks. Long-barreled walnut stock with same no., well inscribed "STEYR Janvier D 1880 W" label and numerous control marks, minor handling marks. Mechanism in perfect working order, barrel interior clean with good scratches. Complete. 124 cm (barrel 72 cm). Comes with its Gras model 1874 navy bayonet and scabbard from "Manufacture de Steyr Mr de Werndel 1879", with the same "A 6504" number, the cruise and scabbard stamped with the navy anchor. All metal parts in white polished finish. Complete. (Rare and beautiful regulation set with the same n° with good markings and "bold" punches. Very good condition).
