Description

France, Third Republic (1870-1940). Fancy infantry officer's saber, variant of the 1882 model. Brass mounting, guard with three secondary branches and a small counter-guard branch, short-tailed cap topped by a riveting dome-button, filigreed horn hilt (watermark missing), guard plate ending in beak. Natural leather tie. Beautiful straight white blade, in its grease, with hollow pan and flat back with "Coulaux & Cie Klingenthal" marking on the back. Steel scabbard with one suspension ring, with small gray patina and traces of rust blossom oxidation in places, symmetrical lyre-shaped sting. 107 cm (blade 92 cm). (Wear and minor wear. Fairly good condition).
