Description

France, Louis-Philippe (1830-1848) - IIe République (1848-1851). Infantry officer's saber model 1821. Gilt cast brass mounting (remains) with small secondary branch, cap with bead and rivure button dome, short tail with laurel leaf border. Filigreed horn spindle (watermark missing). Arched joint arch with median ring chased with flowers. Oval top and curved quillon finished with a floret and small leaves en suite. Blade with stained gray patina, curved, with hollow front and flat back, marked on the heel "Coulaux a & c" "Klingenthal" (marking corresponding to 1845-1850 production). Tie missing. Steel scabbard in the style of the IIIrd Republic, with one suspension ring, with small stained gray patina and bumps. 87 cm (blade 73 cm). (Wear and minor wear, saber reused under the IIIrd Republic (1870-1940), small gap in the scabbard, scabbard too long and attached. Fairly good condition).
