France, 2nd Empire (1854-1870). Rare model 1866 chassepot saber-bayonet of private German manufacture "J.Funcke & Cie à Herdecke Marz 1968", series "U" with scabbard. Fluted cast brass handle, cruise stamped "U 9356". Blade with small gray patina, stained in places with dried grease, and manufacturer's marking on the back (partly legible) "J. Funcke & Cie Herdecke Marz 1868". Model steel scabbard oxidized, not with the same n° "U 6001". (In its original state, not cleaned. Fairly good condition).
