Description
France, 2nd Empire (1852-1870). Glaive allégé modèle 1855, for the Sapeurs-Pompiers. Cast brass mount with 26 grooves, cruciform end with deeply recessed center, characteristic of lightened swords intended for the Sapeurs-Pompiers corps. White blade, stained in its grease, with median ridge and two grooves, without maker's mark or hallmark. Black leather scabbard with two brass fittings, the cap with oval knob. 64 cm (blade 52 cm). (Wear and tear, scabbard slightly shortened by 5 mm (leather has shrunk). Fairly good condition.)
