France, 19th century. Infantry saber called "briquet", AN XI model, composite. Mounted in cast brass with 28 grooves, no visible hallmark or maker's mark. Blade with stained gray patina, curved, with hollow front and back marked "Coulaux & Cie""Klingenthal" on the heel, corresponding to manufacture circa 1860-65. Black leather scabbard with two brass fittings, the cap with shield button. 79 cm (Blade 66 cm). (In its original state, never before in a collection. Wear and tear, the blade has been replaced in the past, play between the tang and the frame, bumps on the blade edge. As is).
