Description

France, Louis-Philippe (1830-1848). Flintlock infantry rifle converted to percussion model 1822 T bis by Manufacture Royale de St Étienne. Cal. 18 mm. Serial no. 3558. All metal parts with small stained gray patina and minor traces of oxidation. The barrel is marked "C de 18", dated "MR 1833" and thunder-stamped "R" under crown and "A". The breech tail is marked "1822 T Bis". Flintlock percussion lock marked "Manufacture Royale de St Étienne" and hallmarked (hallmark illegible). All steel fittings stamped. Long-barreled walnut cheekstock with trace of the St Étienne badge and its pastille and stamped "MUTZIG" with a 2nd "MUTZIG" badge overprinting the 1st badge. Mechanism with two partially functional notches (the 1st notch does not hold the cock). Inside of barrel with minor surface oxidation and shallow scratches. Rod missing. 141 cm (barrel 102.5 cm). (To be cleaned, wear and accidents from use, small missing parts to the wood under the lock. Fairly good condition). Comes with a model AN9 socket bayonet without scabbard. Triple-slotted socket with middle ferrule (47.4 cm (Blade approx. 40 cm)) without scabbard. (Stained gray patina. Fairly good condition).
