Description

France, Louis-Philippe (1830-1848). Gendarmerie percussion snap hook, model 1842, by Manufacture Royale de Châtellerault. Cal. 17,6 mm. Serial no. 585. All metal parts with slight gray patina. Stock and barrel to the same no., some brass fittings not to the same no.. Rear percussion lock marked "Manufacture Royale de Châtellerault". Round barrel with short thunderbolt sides, bearing bayonet lug, sight and rear sight. The vintage has disappeared, and the control marks on the left side of the thunderbolt are illegible. Breechblock marked "Mle 1842". Brass fittings stamped with "F" in a circle, "D" in a rhombus and "B" with a star. Walnut stock with the same number, boxwood "MR" label and "... 1846" in part legible. Steel ramrod with brass ferrule, not in the model and fitted. Functional two-notch cocking mechanism with two clear notches and no play. The inside of the barrel has minor surface oxidation (wear and minor accidents from use. Fairly good condition). 114.5 cm (barrel 75.8 cm).
