France, 2nd Republic (1848 -1852). National Guard officer's collar, model 1848. Gilded brass plate (remainder) decorated in its center with a silver-plated copper motif attached to the plate with a screw and butterfly nut and depicting a Gallic rooster on a level and lictor beams and two intertwined hands. The back of the tray is lined with skin and the buttons are missing. (Wear from use. Fairly good condition).
