Description

France, 2nd Restoration (1815-1830). Infantry saber called "briquet", AN XI model, from the Royal Manufactory of Klingenthal March 1816. Bronze mount with 28 flutes. Single-branch guard, stamped "B" in cursive within a circle for Joseph Ambroise BISCH, controller 2nd class (1809-1824) and several illegible (worn) punches, the cruise stamped "120". Slightly curved, flat-backed blade with a small, stained gray patina and traces of rust blossom oxidation, marked on the back "Manufacture Royale du Klingenthal Mars 1816". It is hallmarked on the heel "B" in a wreath of foliage for 1st class controller Jean-George BICK, "L" in a circle for 2nd class controller François Louis LOBSTEIN from 1804 to 1821 and "B" under a star for Lieutenant-Colonel Louis Étienne BORSON, inspector from 1814 to 1816. Black leather scabbard with two brass fittings, no visible marks or hallmarks, the cap with trigger guard. Complete. 73 cm (blade 59 cm). (Wear and tear, bumps on blade edge, play between frame and blade tang, scabbard a little short. Fairly good condition.)
