Description

France, Restoration (1814-1830). Infantry officer's saber model 1821. Gilded cast brass mounting (remains) with small secondary branch, cap with bead and rivure button dome, short tail with laurel leaf border. Brass filigree horn spindle. Arched joint arch with median ring chased with flowers. Oval top and curved quillon finished with a floret and small leaves en suite. Blade with stained gray patina, curved, with hollow front and flat back, etched with trophies of arms and floral motifs in thirds and blued and gold (remains). On the heel, signature "S & K" in a cartouche. Scarlet wool tie. Black leather scabbard with three gilded brass fittings and two suspension rings. 87 cm (blade 73 cm). (Fuse watermark missing, scabbard seams open, middle scabbard trim attached. As is).
