Description

France, Early 19th century. Infantry saber called "briquet", AN IX model. One-piece cast brass mount with 36 flutes, the cruise stamped with a naval anchor. Slightly curved blade with tobacco-colored patina, flat and flat-backed with trace of marking on the back (illegible, very worn), with no other visible marks or hallmarks. Tie missing. Black leather scabbard with two brass fittings, the cap with trigger guard. 73.5 cm (Blade 59.5 cm). (Age-related wear and patina, minor dents to blade edge and brass fittings on scabbard, scabbard damaged, leather broken in two. As is).
