Description

France, First Empire (1804-1814). Sabre de Cavalerie de Ligne model AN XIII from the Manufacture Impériale de Klingenthal, 1813. Cast brass mounting with three secondary branches, the main branch stamped "B" in cursive for 2nd class comptroller Joseph BISCH (1809-1825), "F" in an oval, "35" and stamped "1232". Short-tailed skullcap cut into a brace. Stringed wooden spindle covered with brass filigree basane. Curved beak top. Natural leather tie. Beautiful straight white blade, with 2 hollow sides and flat back, marked "Manufacture Impériale de Klingenthal Octobre 1813". The heel is stamped "B" between foliage branches for 1st class controller Jean-Georges BICKS (corresponding to the period 1812-1813) and "L" in an oval for reviser François Louis LOBSTEIN (1804-1829). Model steel scabbard, with polished finish and slight gray patina, with two suspension rings and symmetrical stinger, no number. Comes with a later regulation brown leather strap. 111.5 cm (Blade 96 cm). (Wear from use, traces of rust blossom oxidation on the scabbard. Good condition).
