France, 2nd half 19th century. Decorative baluster-shaped bowl, souvenir of the 96ème de ligne and decorated with the imperial eagle and Napoleon 1st. Made of embossed copper and brass, one side features the imperial eagle surmounted by a radiating 5-pointed star stamped with the "N", while the other shows Napoleon 1er discussing with an infantry grenadier (from the 96ème de ligne?). The urn is engraved with "Le sentiment de l'honneur est le pain d'ambition de la 96 ligne - les pompons de la 96 est sans tache - Le 32 Escadron - Sign le Bourot des cranes" (?). The square base rests on four small spherical feet. (The bowl was originally intended to be covered. Fairly good condition). Height 41.5 cm x Diameter 20 cm.
