France, Second Empire (1852-1870). Cavalry percussion pistol model 1822 T. bis by Manufacture Impériale de Saint-Étienne, with the same number. Cal. 17.6 N A for 17.7 mm. Serial no. "5693". All metal parts white with minor traces of oxidation and stains in places. Round rifled barrel, with thunderbolt sides, dated "MI" "S. 1856" on the right side and marked "C. DE 17-6 N" and "A" for bored at 17.7, "5693" for serial no. and control marks "B" in an oval and "F" in an oval. The tailstock is marked "Mle 1822 T bis". The lock is marked "Manufacture Impériale de St Étienne" and stamped "R" in a shield. Walnut stock with the same "5693" number, stamped "ST ETIENNE" with "MI NOVEMBRE 1856" label and numerous control marks. Brass fittings stamped "G" in an oval and "M" under a star in a rhombus. Steel ramrod with tulip-shaped tip, original model. Functional mechanism, with two clear, play-free cocking notches. Inside of barrel with minor surface oxidation, rust bloom and good scratches. Complete. 34.8 cm (barrel 20 cm). (good condition). Note: This is a pistol model 1822 T. built new in 1856 and converted "bis" from 1860.
