Description

France, Reign of Louis XVI (1774-1789). Cavalry flintlock pistol model 1777 1st type by Manufacture de Charleville, circa 1780. Cal. 18 mm. Without original steel hook, for cavalry. All metal parts in white polished finish. Smooth round barrel, slightly stained, with thunderbolt side panels and stamped "80" for 1780 and inspection mark "S 80" for Chef de Brigade De St SERNIN, inspector from 1779 to 1792. The breech tail is marked "M 1777". Platine à coffre à silex de la Manufacture de Charleville, hallmarked "F 80" for Jean Joseph FEBVRE, controller from 1777 to 1807. Cast brass fittings, hallmarked "F" (Jean Joseph FEBVRE). Walnut stock. Original nailhead steel ramrod, 1st type present. Functional mechanism, with two clear, play-free cocking notches. Inside of barrel with minor surface oxidation. Complete. 33.5 cm (barrel 18.9 cm). (Wear and age patina, lock and hammer with small traces of oxidation. Good condition).
