Description

France, Reign of Louis XVI (1774-1789). Cavalry flintlock pistol model 1763/66 of the 2nd type, from the Manufacture de St Étienne, 1775. Cal. 17.1 mm. All metal parts with slight gray patina. The lock is marked "Manufacture de St Étienne" and hallmarked "HR" under crown for Hubert Rosier, controller. Smooth, round barrel with thunderbolt side panels, hallmarked with 2 interlaced Ls, a fleur-de-lys under the crown and "75" for 1775. The breech tail is marked "1775". Long-barreled walnut stock with hallmark and stamp marks. Brass fittings, the mouthpiece is hallmarked "I . S ". Original nailhead steel ramrod. Functional mechanism, with two clear cocking notches. Inside of barrel with minor surface oxidation. Complete. 40 cm (barrel 23 cm). (Wear and patina of time, lock and hammer with small traces of oxidation. Good condition.)
