Description

Georges STEIN (1864-1917) The milliner with a parasol on the old Carrousel bridge Oil on canvas Signed lower center H. 93 cm x L. 65 cm (Montparnasse frame with cartouche 'Georges Stein' damaged, restorations). The old three-span cast-iron bridge was built in 1834 by Ponceleau under King Louis Philippe as the Pont des Saint-Pères, named after the street on which it opens. Its height was deemed insufficient for navigation, and it was rebuilt in 1943. Behind the young woman, the Louvre and Notre-Dame de Paris.
