Description

Gustave Adolphe MOSSA (1883-1971), d'après The Rascasse Ink drawing Stamped in ink "G.A Mossa" lower right 45x60 cm on view This drawing by Gustave-Adolphe Mossa could be a study for the 1912 float. It was subsequently used as a model, with a few variations, for various Carnival floats. In this sense, the 1960 Carnival float, entitled "La rascasse", comes closest to the design. It also served as a model for the 1999 Carnival, which was a major retrospective of floats designed by Mossa père et fils. We would like to thank Madame Sylvie Lombart-Mossa, granddaughter of Gustave Adolphe Mossa and President of the Symbolique Mossa association, for confirming the authenticity of this work and providing us with this information.
