Kropatschek Mod. 1886, with bayonet Cal. 8x60R Krop, SN. C830, matching numbers except for lock, as usual. Bright bore. Eight-shot tubular magazine. Switch lever for single shot. Manufacture OEWFG Steyr. Complete original finish on barrel and receiver, partially slightly spotted and patinated. Bright lock. Dark walnut stock with both sling swivels and cleaning rod. Good condition. Comes with matching Yatagan bayonet with distinct wear marks and rubbed inscription. Length 132 cm. Bis 1892 hielt er sich überwiegend in Kamerun auf und erforschte als erster weite Teile des Landes. - Papierbedingt gebräunt, tls. etw. fleckig, einige Bll. mit kl. Half-leather with title on spine and leather corners (somewhat more scuffed, rubbed and bumped, front joint cracked, front cover with fragments of a label). - First edition. - Zintgraff (1858-1897) went to Cameroon in 1886 on behalf of the German Imperial Government, where he explored the Wuri, the main route of the Cameroon River. Until 1892 he stayed mainly in Cameroon and was the first to explore large parts of the country. - Paper somewhatt browned, some stains, a few leaves with small waterstains, endpapers and first 3 leaves with stamp(s) and some foxing. Overall a well preserved copy.
