Argentine coat of arms on receiver. Importer's stamp "Orion" on right side of receiver bridge. Case and barrel gray. Wear marks. Lock polished. Walnut stock with wear marks, cleaned. Length 108 cm. Ferdinand Lepcke (1866 Coburg - 1909 Berlin) "Bow tightener". Original title Bronze, dark brown patina. Signed; Posthumous, contemporary cast, 20th/21st century; The larger-than-life nude figure of the "Bogenspannerin" is considered one of Lepcke's most important works. He studied at the Berlin Academy from 1883 to 1890, from 1888 as a master student of Fritz Schaper. In 1891, the Prussian Academy of Arts awarded him the Grand State Prize, which was combined with a scholarship year in Rome in 1892/93. Several early casts of the "Bogenspannerin", modeled in 1897, exist as outdoor sculptures in parks and squares or in public ownership, including in the National Gallery in Berlin, Coburg and Bromberg. After the artist's death, his brother sold numerous of Lepcke's models to the Lauchhammer art foundry, which made a decisive contribution to the sculptor's further fame with the license to reproduce and distribute them. H. ca. 238 cm. Cited in: Thieme-Becker, vol. XXIII, p. 97. Dark brown patinated bronze. Signed. Posthumous, modern cast 20th/21st C.
