An over-and-under shotgun, Merkel, Suhl Cal. 16/70, SN. 36884, barrels mostly bright, with single minimal rough spots. Length 70 cm. Wide, forward tapering barrel rib with engine-turned pattern. Light engraving on barrel root. German proof mark 1952. ejectors. Double barrel hook lock with Kersten catch. Barrel hook with Q1 stamp. Steel receiver (small receiver!) with high quality, finely worked engraving (animal pieces with pheasants and mating capercaillie). Marked "Gebrüder Merkel Suhl" on bottom of receiver. Slide safety on butt stock neck. Double trigger. Two-piece forearm. Butt stock with elongated pistol grip and German cheek piece. Wide, ventilated butt cap. Stock length 36 cm. Overall length 114 cm. With broad, braided leather sling.
