An Ottoman belt with two cartridge pouches, 2nd half of the 19th century Leather waist belt with trimmings of blue velvet with rich vine decoration of metal embroidery, plus two cartridge pouches decorated en suite (belt loop of one pouch detached). All parts with heavy signs of age and wear as well as missing parts, velvet and embroidery heavily rubbed. Length of the waist belt 97 cm. Condition: IV

Großröhrsdorf established itself as a location for ribbon weaving as early as the 17th century. The present collection contains a wide range of patterns in various colors and techniques, including numerous woven stripe patterns and embroidered floral ornaments. The pages of the 5 canvas volumes are framed in ornamental gold-embossed borders. The cardboard album from 1912 is arranged chronologically from January to December and contains detailed handwritten annotations. Another volume contains a mounted lithographic detail with an illustration of the factory in Grossröhrsdorf and the title "Mechanische Weberei baumwoll. & wollner figurirte Gurte, Doppelgurte & Hosenträger". Contains numerous patterns of belts, including saddle belts, waist belts, boot belts, brocaded belts, flower belts, patent belts, etc. - Occasionally with missing patterns. Album pages browned due to paper and somewhat stained in places. The borders partly with missing parts and defects. Occasional slight insect damage, one volume on the album pages more heavily affected in the upper margin with resulting losses. The designs very well preserved overall and mostly clean and intact.
