Emil Rumpf (1860 - 1948) - sketches and graphic sheets, mostly 19th century Approx. 60 handmade sheets in various techniques such as pencil, ink and watercolor on paper (dimensions from approx. 8 x 9 cm to approx. 20 x 30 cm), mostly mounted on sturdy cardboard, often signed by hand with full name or monogrammed "E.R.". Including Austrian general, Prussian Uhlan, British Guards officer, hussars, post riders, Wild West and several civilian subjects such as architecture and landscape. Slightly damaged in places, signs of age. Emil Rumpf was the son of the Frankfurt painter Philipp Rumpf, a co-founder of the Kronberg painters' colony. He graduated from the Düsseldorf and Karlsruhe art academies and the Städel Institute and soon joined the Kronberg painters' colony. Unique collection of original graphic works, probably from the artist's early creative phase. Condition: II
