Description

A crest helmet for NCOs of the Royal Saxon Gendarmerie, 1878 - 1918 Black lacquered leather skull (craquelures, partially abraded) with nickel silver fittings. Screw-mounted crest with scalloped mounting (one round-head rivet missing on the back) with coiled front end, on which a ventilation hole in the middle of rosettes on each side. Flat chinscales with leather underlay on geometric rosettes, the protective bars fixed with pins. An appliquéd star emblem in three levels at the front, a green-lacquered star (non-ferrous metal), followed by the Royal Saxon coat of arms in silver-plated nickel-silver. The black leather liner in fine condition. Signs of age and wear. Also, the medal "150 Jahre Polizeidirektion Dresden 1853 - 2003 Sonderausstellung" with the certificate and illustration of this helmet for enlisted men, which was also worn at the Royal Saxon Police Headquarters in Dresden.
