Major General Buonaventura von Rauch - a hand drawing, dated 1778 Pencil on paper, inscribed top right "Plan von dem Schlachtfeld bey Cunersdorf gezeichnet und aufgenommen nach dem Augenmaas Im Monat May 1778. Rauch Mineur Corps". Under glass in gilt profile frame. Minimally damaged in places, traces of use and age. Sheet dimensions 14.5 x 9 cm, frame dimensions 26 x 19 cm. Interesting sheet from the early military period of the later director of the Prussian Academy of Engineering as a mining officer. In 1796 King Friedrich Wilhelm II appointed Buonaventura von Rauch director of the engineering academy in Potsdam, in 1796 he became lieutenant colonel and in 1799 colonel. In 1805 he was appointed major general by King Frederick William III. His son General Gustav von Rauch (1774 - 1841) advanced to become Prussian Minister of War and honorary citizen of Berlin.
