The present work appears as Zimmer's first and only book publication in the form of an explanatory report on the development of human malformations, illustrated on the basis of Siamese twins from originals in the anatomical collection of the Brunswick Natural History Cabinet. - The plates show three different specimens of these curious anomalies, which have attracted great attention since the first collections of natural specimens in the 16th century. - The work concludes with an annotated bibliography of 30 reports on comparable cases, mainly articles from specialist journals from the 17th to the early 19th century. - Paper slightly and evenly browned, a few pages somewhat brownstained. Overall well-preserved copy with delicately differentiated copper plates.
