Three shakos for members of the Brunswick/Hanoverian troops, 19th/20th century A shako for members of the Infantry Regiment No. 92 (Fusiliers) with a fabric-covered leather body (rubbed), black leather peak, lid and collar, black leather sweatband (cracked) and black chinstrap on the inside, skull emblem and "Peninsula" bandeau on the front, field insignia missing. Also a Brunswick infantry chako, composed of a mohair-covered black body, with the emblem with the star of the Order of Henry the Lion pinned to the front and leather sweatband, incorrectly replaced field insignia of white metal. Comes with a Hanoverian chako for infantry men with a fabric-covered body, peak, lid and collar of black leather, metal emblem (Saxon horse), newly replaced interior, field insignia missing. Partially incomplete, reworked, slightly damaged, signs of age. Condition: II - III

Das sehr seltene Photo zeigt Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919) mit anderen Expeditionsteilnehmern und den Schiffskapitän mit weiteren Besatzungsmitgliedern während der Überquerung des Victoria Sees von Fort Florence nach Kampala. - Die Smithsonian-Roosevelt African Expedition, die zum Schluss Afrika von Süd nach Nord durchquerte, wurde vom ehemaligen amerikanischen Präsidenten Theodore Roosevelt geleitet und von der Smithsonian Institution finanziert. Geführt wurde die Gruppe von dem legendären Jäger und Fährtenleser Richard John Cuninghame. Weitere Expeditionsteilnehmer waren u.a. der australische Scharfschütze Leslie Tarlton, drei amerikanische Naturforscher, Edgar Alexander Mearns, ein pensionierter Chirurg der US-Armee, der Präparator Edmund Heller von der Stanford University und der Säugetierforscher John Alden Loring sowie Roosevelts 19-jähriger Sohn Kermit. Die Expedition führte u.a. über Mombasa, Britisch-Ostafrika (Kenia) nach Belgisch-Kongo (Demokratische Republik Kongo) und entlang des Nils nach Khartum im Sudan.
