Signed "Dotta" and "Berthold Markgraf von Baden 1936" in ink by both in the lower margin. Blind-stamped photographer's inscription "Auer Karlsruhe". Unused. Berthold, Margrave of Baden (1906 - 1963), son of the last Imperial Chancellor Prince Max of Baden, was head of the House of Baden from 1928. In 1933, he successfully lobbied Hitler for the release of the politician and educator Kurt Hahn, founder of the Schloss Salem school, who had been imprisoned by the Nazi regime. Princess Theodora ("Dotta") of Greece (1906 - 1969) was the sister of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and husband of Queen Elizabeth II of England, who died in 2021. On the advice of his sister Theodora, Philip also attended Salem Castle School from 1933. Condition: I - II
