Description

A small-sword with papal insignia, 1st half of the 19th century Hollow-ground triangular blade (stained, pitted in places), the upper half etched on all sides with trophies and tendrils (traces of gilding, darkened bluing), the maker's signature "W" etched at the root. Gilt non-ferrous metal knuckle-bow hilt in rich relief, the silver insignia of the Pope (tiara over crossed keys of Peter) applied to the guard plate, smooth mother-of-pearl grip scales. Slightly damaged in places, signs of age. Length 82 cm. Condition: II
