Description

An officer's helmet and visor cap of the British Army, 20th century Helmet around 1900 for officers of the Royal Lancaster Regiment, the body made of cork with fabric covering, non-ferrous metal fittings, attached crowned emblem with lion symbol on red velvet and regimental name, finial (two fastening screws missing) with funnel in relief and yellowish horsehair plume, ochre leather sweatband, purple silk lining, maker's stamp "Cork Patent / Hawkes & Co. London", chin chain missing. Comes with a worn peaked cap of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps made of wool cloth (inconspicuous moth marks) with a metal emblem bearing the motto "Sua tela tonanti", imitation leather sweatband and imitation silk lining, the seam of the peak open at the sides. Partially incomplete, slightly damaged, signs of age. Condition: II
