A sabre for light cavalry troopers, 1st quarter of the 19th century Heavy, slightly curved single-edged blade (partially pitted) with fullers on both sides, stamped "(P)ARIS" on the back, a circular mark on the obverse side. Non-ferrous metal knuckle-bow hilt with two one-third point scales, "central iron", leather-covered grip and triple copper wire winding. Slightly damaged in places, signs of age. Length 100 cm. Condition: II - III

A PATTERN 1821 LIGHT CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD BY WILKINSON NAMED TO HENRY DAVIS WILLOCK, 11th HUSSARS, dated 1875, with 34 1/4in. slightly curved single-edged blade fullered on each side, etched with the Queen's crown, Royal cypher and scroll-work to one side with 11th Hussars coat-of-arms and battle honours over, together with the dedication 'HENRY DAVIS / WILLOCK / A PRESENT / FROM / HIS BROTHER / ALEXr. / CHALMERS / McKEAN / 6th Dgs / (INNISKILLINGS) / 28th AUG. 1875', ricasso with 'HENRY / WILKINSON / PALL MALL / LONDON' and 'HW' plug over, back numbered '21012', hilt with three-barred guard, wire-bound fish-skin grip and original portapee, together with its steel scabbard with two suspension loops, grip worn, scabbard with 'salt & pepper' staining, missing throat screw and straightened fold causing the metal to crack approx. 12in. from the end. Albert Einstein Signed 'Light's Golden Jubilee' Air Mail Cover Uncommon ‘air mail’ envelope with stamped cachet for the “National Air Tour to Ford Airport Oct. 21, 1929,” postmarked at Greenfield, Michigan on October 21, 1929, signed on the reverse in fountain pen, “A. Einstein.” The front of the envelope features an “Edison Celebration Light’s Golden Jubilee” stamp, an affixed 2¢ postage stamp, and 'golden jubilee' emblems, the latter of which are also present on the reverse, which also bears an affixed newspaper clipping related to Einstein’s congratulatory radio message to Thomas Edison. In fine condition. On October 21, 1929, Henry Ford hosted Light's Golden Jubilee, an event celebrating the 50th anniversary of Edison's invention of the incandescent lamp. As part of the evening's program, guests listened to an account of Edison's re-enactment of the first successful lighting of his incandescent lamp as it took place in nearby Greenfield Village. Albert Einstein made congratulatory remarks via a radio broadcast from Germany, and Edison shared heartfelt remarks of appreciation. The night concluded with President Hoover formally dedicating The Edison Institute of Technology (Ford's village and museum complex in Dearborn, Michigan).

Jean-Honoré FRAGONARD (Grasse 1732 - Paris 1806) Study of a soldier on one knee on the ground drawing his saber from the scabbard Sanguine Drawing doubled on an old mount, slightly oiled, some foxing and minor spotting. 30 x 23.5 cm A drawing of similar technique and dimensions, dating from the 1760s in Rome, exhibited by the Galerie Cailleux, is currently in an American collection (see Galerie Cailleux, Rome 1760-1770. Fragonard, Hubert Robert et leurs Amis, Paris, 1983, no. 17, repr.). The subject of our drawing seems to correspond to a work sold under the title Soldat agenouillé tirant son sabre (see vente anonyme, Paris Hôtel Drouot, May 31, 1880, no. 236: Soldat romain agenouillé tirant son sabre. Sanguine, in-fol.). The drawing from the 1880 sale is referenced under no. 1021 in the addenda and corrigenda to volume II (see A. Ananoff, L'oeuvre dessinée de Fragonard, T.
