Blackened iron basket hilt with the Brazilian star coat of arms stamped on it, ribbed brass grip scales. Blackened iron scabbard with a movable suspension ring and riding loop. Signs of use and age. Henry Fonda Document Signed for 20th Century-Fox DS, 31 pages, 8.5 x 11, February 28, 1939. Agreement between Henry Fonda and Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation employing the actor to render services "in one (1) motion picture, commencing on February 27, 1939, or upon the day following completion of all the services which the producer may require the artist to render in connection with the producer's motion picture now tentatively entitled 'Alexander Graham Bell,'" for compensation of $25,000. Signed at the conclusion in fountain pen by Henry Fonda, and countersigned by a studio executive and notary. Loosely laid into its original brown paper folder. In fine condition. In the 1939 Twentieth Century-Fox film The Story of Alexander Graham Bell, Fonda played his assistant, Thomas A. Watson, who dramatically hears the first words ever spoken via telephone: 'Mr. Watson, come here! I want you!' The following year would be a busy one for Fonda, as he starred in Young Mr. Lincoln, Drums Along the Mohawk, and The Grapes of Wrath, all directed by the legendary John Ford.

Jean-Honoré FRAGONARD (Grasse 1732 - Paris 1806) Study of a soldier on one knee on the ground drawing his saber from the scabbard Sanguine Drawing doubled on an old mount, slightly oiled, some foxing and minor spotting. 30 x 23.5 cm A drawing of similar technique and dimensions, dating from the 1760s in Rome, exhibited by the Galerie Cailleux, is currently in an American collection (see Galerie Cailleux, Rome 1760-1770. Fragonard, Hubert Robert et leurs Amis, Paris, 1983, no. 17, repr.). The subject of our drawing seems to correspond to a work sold under the title Soldat agenouillé tirant son sabre (see vente anonyme, Paris Hôtel Drouot, May 31, 1880, no. 236: Soldat romain agenouillé tirant son sabre. Sanguine, in-fol.). The drawing from the 1880 sale is referenced under no. 1021 in the addenda and corrigenda to volume II (see A. Ananoff, L'oeuvre dessinée de Fragonard, T.
