Stockholm 1956 Summer Olympics Order of Merit Plaque Official Order of Merit plaque for the equestrian events held in Stockholm during the 1956 Summer Olympics. Bronze-tone, 11 gm, 31 mm x 44 mm, depicting a classical horse and rider above Olympic rings. The reverse is plain. The main 1956 Summer Games were held in Melbourne, Australia, but the equestrian events could not be held there due to quarantine regulations; Stockholm was chosen as the alternative site. The equestrian events began in June, nearly six months earlier than the official opening ceremonies in Melbourne.

Very rare depiction within an oval of the twenty-eighth Grand Master of the Order of Malta.Pierre de Corneillan was Grand Prior of Saint-Gilles and Grand Master of the Order of Malta in Rhodes from 1353 to 1355.De Corneillan spent much of his short period of rule (18 months) valiantly resisting the intentions of Pope Innocent VI, who had attempted to move the seat of the Order from Rhodes to a location closer to Palestine and the Mamluk possessions.
