Null A miniature portrait of an early bearer of the Bavarian Order of St. Michae…
Description

A miniature portrait of an early bearer of the Bavarian Order of St. Michael, 1st half of the 19th century Oil on firm ground (no ivory), unsigned. Half-length portrait in the richly gold-embroidered uniform of a Bavarian state councillor and government president with applied decorations, including the Knight's Cross 2nd class and the breast star of the Bavarian Order of St. Hubert. Under glass, in a finely reliefed, gilded non-ferrous metal frame, cardboard on the reverse. Cardboard, two metal spikes missing. The painted surface crazed, some wear to the edges. Diameter of the frame 11 cm. Very representative. The portrait could have been painted around 1837 at the earliest, as the Bavarian Order of Merit of St. Michael was only founded in 1837, perhaps a very early award from the time of the foundation. According to the consignor, Ferdinand Maria Josef Anton Max Freiherr von Andrian-Werbung (1776 - 1851) is depicted. Condition: II
