Description

A set of South German faulds with one matching tasset, partly etched, circa 1540/50 Set of four belly bands with attached remains of the upper diechling. The left upper diechling with ten movable attachments completely preserved, the knee hump loose. Only the two upper attachments of the left one survive. Finely flanged and corded edges, the offset strips with remnants of finely etched vine decoration, partly plastered. Some parts slightly deformed, some leather and rivets defective, in need of restoration. Surfaces with dark age patina, oil marks, in need of cleaning. Height approx. 60 cm. Provenance: Formerly in the collection of the kings of Hanover at Marienburg Castle. Condition: II - III
