Description

A "Gioco del Ponte" visor, Pisa, 17th/18th century Strongly domed, flared visor with eleven vertically riveted, round iron clasps. Side arms for attachment to the helmet skull (one eyelet has been repaired). Two eyelets for hook locks on the lower edge. Height approx. 16 cm. The Pisan Bridge Games are a medieval fighting game held annually in Pisa and abolished in 1807 due to "excessive violence". The participants wore historical armor for protection, which was modified according to requirements. In 1935, the games were resumed in a modified form and continue to this day. Condition: II -
