Manuskriptinventar und zugehörige Dokumente der wissenschaftlichen Kunst- und Wunderkammer des Mathematikers und Astronomen David Blaesing (1660-1719), die der Universität Königsberg überlassen wurde, zusammengestellt von Karl Gottfried Hagen in dessen Handschrift. - Blaesing, eines der 8 Gründungsmitglieder der von Leibniz ins Leben gerufenen Berliner Akademie der Wissenschaften, vermachte seine Bibliothek und sein Kabinett mit naturwissenschaftlichen Instrumenten, Globen, Mineralien und Naturalien der Universität Königsberg. Es existiert kein gedruckter Katalog der Sammlung, und das vorliegende, zwischen 1820 und 1824 erstellte und aus 4 Katalogen bestehende Manuskript scheint die einzige detaillierte Aufzeichnung ihres Inhalts zu sein. Aus 3 beiliegenden Briefen erfahren wir, dass der zeitgenössische Kurator der Sammlung Karl Gottfried Hagen (1749-1829) war, ein bedeutender Apotheker, enger Freund Immanuel Kants und Schwiegersohn des Mathematikers und Astronomen Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel. Diese Dokumentation von Blaesings Nachlass war auf erhebliche Verluste zurückzuführen, die die Sammlung erlitten hatte, und Hagen fordert die Universität Königsberg dringend auf, die verbleibende Sammlung umzusiedeln und einen neuen Kurator, den Mathematiker K.F. Wrede (1766-1826), zu ernennen. - Bei den Katalogen handelt es sich um Hagens Kopien des Inventars des Nachlasses an mathematischen, optischen und physikalischen Instrumenten sowie Naturalien. Der zweite und vierte Katalog wurden ursprünglich von dem Physiker Karl Daniel Reusch (1735-1806) in den Jahren 1769-70 erstellt. Dabei listet der vierte Katalog alle optischen und mathematischen Instrumente auf, die fehlen und wahrscheinlich gestohlen wurden. - Die begleitende Korrespondenz besteht aus einem Entwurf eines Schreibens Hagens an den Senat der Universität, in dem er die Ergebnisse seiner Nachforschungen über die Sammlung darlegt, einem Protokoll über die Übergabe der verbliebenen Stücke an Wrede im Jahr 1824 mit dessen eigenhändiger Unterschrift und zwei offiziellen Schreiben der Universität Königsberg an Hagen (mit roten Wachssiegeln), in denen er von jeglicher Verantwortung für die Verluste freigesprochen wird und die Verlegung der verbliebenen Sammlung unter Wredes Leitung angeordnet wird. - Tls. fleckig, letzte Bll. mit kl. Manuscript inventory and related documents of the scientific cabinet of curiosities and art of the mathematician and astronomer David Blaesing (1660-1719), which was bequeathed to the University of Königsberg, compiled by Karl Gottfried Hagen in his handwriting. - Blaesing, one of the eight founding members of the Berlin Academy of Sciences founded by Leibniz, bequeathed his library and cabinet of scientific instruments, globes, minerals and natural objects to the University of Königsberg. No printed catalog of the collection exists, and the present manuscript, compiled between 1820 and 1824 and consisting of 4 catalogs, appears to be the only detailed record of its contents. From 3 enclosed letters we learn that the contemporary curator of the collection was Karl Gottfried Hagen (1749-1829), an important pharmacist, close friend of Immanuel Kant and son-in-law of the mathematician and astronomer Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel. This documentation of Blaesing's estate was due to considerable losses the collection had suffered, and Hagen urged the University of Königsberg to relocate the remaining collection and appoint a new curator, the mathematician K.F. Wrede (1766-1826). - The catalogues are Hagen's copies of the estate's inventory of mathematical, optical and physical instruments as well as natural objects. The second and fourth catalogs were originally compiled by the physicist Karl Daniel Reusch (1735-1806) in the years 1769-70. The fourth catalogue lists all the optical and mathematical instruments that are missing and were probably stolen. - The accompanying correspondence consists of a draft of a letter from Hagen to the university senate, in which he explains the results of his research on the collection, a protocol on the transfer of the remaining pieces to Wrede in 1824 with his personal signature and two official letters from the University of Königsberg to Hagen (with red wax seals), in which he is absolved of any responsibility for the losses and the transfer of the remaining collection under Wrede's direction is ordered. - Some spotting, last few pages with small worm mark, otherwise well preserved. Blattmaße je ca. 15 x 19 cm. Meist mit Beschriftungen in englischer und lateinischer Sprache. - Die Blätter scheinen einem professionellen ornithologischen Zeichenalbum zu entstammen. Enthalten sind sowohl europäische als auch außereuropäische Arten, es überwiegen dabei Enten- und Hühnervögel. Dargestellt sind unter anderem ein Kernbeißer, ein Halsbandfrankolin, Löffelenten, Persische Sandhühner und Büschelenten. Die Vögel werden meist in ihrer natürlichen Umgebung gezeigt, einige Blätter bilden zudem auch das Gelege ab. Einige der Zeichnungen scheinen inspiriert von dem erstmals zwischen 1851-1857 erschienen Werk "A History of British Birds" von Rev. F.O. Morris. - Verso vereinzelt mit Spuren früherer Montierung. Einige auf Trägerpapier montiert. In den Rändern teils unscheinbar gebräunt und vereinzelt gering braunfleckig. Insgesamt sehr gut erhaltene und vielfältige Sammlung. Ornithology - Collection of 39 original drawings with depictions of birds. Probably England, mid 19th century. Pen and watercolour on chamois-coloured paper. - Mostly with captions in English and Latin. - The sheets appear to come from a professional ornithological drawing album. They contain both European and non-European species, with a predominance of duck and partridge birds. Among others, a hawfinch, a collared francolin, spoonbills, Persian sandgrouse and tufted ducks are depicted. The birds are mostly shown in their natural environment, with some sheets also depicting the clutch of eggs. Some of the drawings appear to have been inspired by the work "A History of British Birds" by Rev. F.O. Morris, first published between 1851-1857. Morris. - Partly with traces of earlier mounting on verso. Some mounted on backing paper. Some inconspicuous browning in margins and occasional minor brownstaining. Overall a very well-preserved and varied collection.
