A set of two chairs, two armchairs and a bench KOHN. Austria, early 20th century. Velvet upholstery and wooden structure. It presents stains and damages typical of the passage of time. Measurements: 122 x 104 x 47 cm (canapé); 59 x 55 x 99 cm (armchair); 40 x 45 x 93 cm (chair). This seating ensemble is an outstanding exponent of Viennese Art Nouveau. The openwork backrests and armrests are reminiscent of the creations of Michael Thonet, who invented his own technique for bending wood in a unique way, giving it great plasticity and lightness. They are raised on straight, molded legs. The upholstery is embellished with subtle floral motifs.

One painting signed at right, on the blue globe of the candlestick One painting signed at left, on the stencil depicting the saint adoring the cross ORIGIN Emilian family This pair of unpublished works by the painter, intends to interpret the vanity of childhood promises toward a life path strewn with comforts and joys. In the painting with the child reaching out from his mother's arms toward precious and colorful objects, the epilogue can be glimpsed in the woman's hairstyle, pierced and fixed by a small sword, referable to a Neapolitan culture linked to the iconography of the Madonna of the Seven Sorrows. De Vivo's closeness to the painters of the French Academy and especially to Léopold Robert is reflected stylistically in this work and also in the dramatic character of the subject, which is very common in Robert. The accentuated colorism typical of De Vivo's works is here characterized by an interesting color play set in three tones, with an intensity that adds great pathos to the two scenes Condition report First canvas.
